May Day Hartford -- International Workers' Day

Date:
Sat, 05/01/2010 (All day)

Featuring Broadcast Live (http://broadcastlive.org) and Taina y La Banda Rebelde!! (http://www.myspace.com/tainapoet)

Saturday May 1st 2010 Burr Mall (outdoors between Hartford City Hall and the Wadsworth).

May Day, the First of May, is International Workers' Day! The Hartford May Day Committee invites you and your fellow union members, neighbors, congregations and compatriots to enjoy a day of diverse music acts, popular theater, political discussion and free food. As the economy tightens its grip on working people, we shall come together in celebration and solidarity. We're all in this together!

"How can I help?"

We are looking for actors and other entertainers who would like to perform. We want the festival to be as diverse as the working class itself! We could also use some help getting the word out, making copies, and of course, funding. Organizations willing to give $50 (or provide some other contribution) will be listed as a sponsor on all promotional materials, and an additional $30 will get you a half page ad in the program booklet, and $50 will get you a full page.

Finally, we'll also be selecting a handful of presenters to lead discussions on working class issues inside City Hall while the festival is going on. Please let us know if you'd like to present and we will send you an application.

Yours in Solidarity,

Matt McLaughlin, Workers Solidarity Alliance of CT
Luis Cotto, Hartford City Council (WF)
