You might want to think again if you attend the 2009 New York City Anarchist Book Fair, to be held April 10-12. For the third year in a row, NYC's anarchist community will will play host to a weekend of community and collaboration including:

• a day-long book fair and art show
• two days of speakers, panels, and workshops
• a film festival

all devoted to building a new society without the state and without capitalism.

The New York City Anarchist Book Fair, one of the biggest events of its kind in North America, provides a portal into the vibrant world of political anarchist organizing, action, and art. It is for activists to connect with one another, share and enrich the enormous field of anarchist ideas and practices. It is for grassroots political organizers, independent publishers and journalists, zinesters, film/videographers, and artists. It is for anyone looking to find out more about the contemporary anarchist movement. And it is for kids, with child care and creative activities for children provided.

The New York City Anarchist Book Fair aims to build a bigger and more vibrant, multigenerational anarchist community in NYC, which has been a center of the anarchist movement for 150 years, as well as throughout North America and around the world.
