anarchist commune

The anarchist commune idea is just that, an idea, and so not confined to any particular region. I love anarchist thought, Emma Goldman for instance; but I am dismayed by the almost complete lack of interest in creating large, rural, largely self-sufficient, anarchist communes. Yes it's challenging, but what's the alternative?

This website is incredible, but look at the abysmal lack of input and use. To me this is not surprising as laissez-faire anarchism looks to me, ultimately, exactly like socialism or even capitalism. And ultimately opportunistic on an individualistic level, or just as bad, plays the role of the victim.

Anyway, I'm not going to rant on, I'm heading out West (though any rural area would be fine, including New England) soon with a friend to find land. I can't stand the suburbs and cities and I suspect within a year or two we are going to see a collapse that will stagger the imagination. Many think this will bring liberation, we can only hope. But from what I've seen of human nature this may be a dim hope.
