Mapping and Resource Assessment

Since Saturday night in Amherst, I've been thinking about a project to map out and assess resources, struggles and needs throughout the region as a way of familiarizing ourselves with what we have to work with.

The project would need, probably, a team of at least 2 from each subregion or metro area.

My hopes with this project would be that not only will we be learning and listening, but that we could better plug in to community struggles to break out of an ideologically centralized movement towards true social revolution recognizing the self-determination of all people and communities. This project would better inform us in future projects, such as building greater worker solidarity (hell, maybe starting a worker's coop), fighting gentrification (community land trusts?) or fighting for small, organic, family farms (losing the city-centered focus that the movement tends to lend itself to).

Ideas, general thoughts, comments, volunteers?

I think we could just ask

I think we could just ask the point people for each subregion to do what they can to collect information on resources and campaigns. I think these people should be conversing with the members in their subregions anyway.

We could have a page on the website that the information could be organized and viewed. If it's a bad idea for the subregional contact people to be saddled with the responsibility of collection, it could just be announced, and anyone with a log in could post. How time consuming is it for you to add more pages?
