order tracking
The "cone zones" are up and running for the warm weather season in the northern states. Road construction crews are working 24x7 in order to complete projects by the projected due dates. They are all doing great. Or are they?
Weather is one of the biggest factors in determining if a construction contractor will be able to adhere to their completion dates on road projects. And there are others like employee issues, equipment breakdowns and the like.
Highway construction contractors need a method by which they can keep a close watch on their operations in order to help ensure that they are holding as closely as possible to completion dates. Here are three areas that a GPS Tracking System will help them to do just that:
Equipment theft. Heavy equipment theft is all too common with outdoor contractors. Ever see the compressors hanging in the air, suspended above the ground from an on site crane just to keep it from being stolen? That is a tell-tale sign. Of the equipment that is stolen every year, only about 10% is ever recovered.
That is why a GPS Tracking device is perfect for this type of business application. Even if the battery is disconnected, the device will still emit a signal. This helps authorities locate the equipment for recovery in just hours rather than days, weeks, months, or ever.
Maintenance schedules. Keeping track of equipment via GPS Tracking systems means that you will be able to track a package miles driven and hours used. This equates to having the reports in front of you to tell you when the next scheduled maintenance event is on each unit. No more will you have to call the operator and ask for the information. You just schedule the maintenance and let it happen.
Crew movement and monitoring. Are you completing the tasks that are scheduled in order to reach your goal of completion? Can you tell when you are slipping so that you can schedule extra work hours to get back on track? Do you see movement of equipment that has nothing to do with the construction project? All of these questions and more can be answered with a GPS Tracking system.
It is no longer enough to just guess that things are going ok. Even if the construction supervisor says that things are moving along as they should be, now you can verify his statements without leaving the office.
GPS Tracking systems are a great fit for the outdoor construction business. If you are a decision-maker in this industry, do yourself a favor and install a system today.
