Whats up y'all?
So we are putting together a place and time for an Anti-Election Workshop to take place here in Boston. James Herrod is giving a workshop on this topic at NCOR in the begining of March and we hope to put one together for folks up here.
We are going to try and get a big space, and put folks up for however long to make this happen in a good way. The plan BAAM [1] has tenatively laid out is a workshop on the theory of it all (electoral politics being a fraud, democracy and popular rule), and then have the rest of the day to work on projects to promote true Democracy and discredit electoral politics.
We would like as many people from the region to come as possible. So Providence kids, Mainiacs, Western Mass, CT, we would like to see you all there. I know New Yorkers from upstate and the city were interested too. come on down, everyone.
This is also important to tie into many different struggles. With Presidential campaigns in full swing, and the Conventions coming up this summer, a firm basis in theory against this "two" party sham and actionable alternatives will be needed. When the RNC [2] (un)Welcoming Committee came through Boston, it was asked if there was a firm consensus amongst those manifesting against the conventions behind a direct democracy, electoral fraud message. They said there was not, and that they had been discussing it across the country and would continue to do so. It seemed that it was the message people were behind, but nothing was firm enough to make statements with. This is another reason why this will be good, to get a general consensus on the issue.
