Assembly of the Northeast Anarchist Network, July 16th-18th, Boston, MA.
Read this announcement carefully to find out all the information you need about RSVPing! Please note, you will be RSVP'ing to different people for different things, so pay attention!
The next NEAN [1] assembly will be held in Boston, MA from Friday July 16 to Sunday July 18. We are busy planning exciting activities and a very productive weekend. This assembly is open to any and all anarchists in the Northeast, not just those who are part of affiliated organizations. It is a time to meet each other, strategize, and form a more strong and connected anarchist movement in our region.
Please RSVP about any and all of the following, to the relevant person, by JULY 1!!!! This is a hard deadline!
SCHEDULE
The meetings themselves will begin on Saturday morning, to allow for travel time on Friday, but Friday evening will be a socializing/ice [2] breaking event, so if you can arrive on Friday, we would encourage it. Sunday is tentatively scheduled to be workshops/skillshares/open
discussions in the morning, and, weather permitting, a beach trip in the afternoon. That way people with further to travel won't miss the
important stuff.
If you have AGENDA ITEMS or WORKSHOP IDEAS, please email them to
boston@neanarchist.net [3]. With agenda items, please include the approximate time you would like slated. With workshops or skillshares, please say whether you would like to teach this workshop, or whether you would like to see this workshop offered. Please do this by JULY 1.
HOUSING
We are going to try our hardest to house everyone who comes to the assembly, provided they RSVP in time. We know that many of you know people in Boston and may assume that you can just stay with them. Well, unless they are people completely outside of the radical community, please assume that this is wrong, and that ALL housing needs should go through the housing coordinator. If you are positive that you can stay with your anarchist friends, please check with them first, and then still respond to the housing coordinator with this confirmation, so we know to factor that into peoples' housing counts.
For housing: please email lil_red@riseup.net [4] by JULY 1 with the following information:
-how many people are coming with you (make sure you don't double rsvp though).
-when are you arriving and how many nights will you be staying
-how are you arriving (car, bus, train, plane)
-are you allergic to any animals?
-Are there 2 of you who would be able to sleep in the same bed?
-Do you have any other specific needs (e.g. can't sleep on a floor, would prefer not to walk up a flight of stairs, etc.).
-Are you able to bring a tent and pitch it in someone's backyard?
FOOD
We are going to have awesome food from Food Not Bombs for the whole weekend! But if you have any specific food needs, they need to know ahead of time. Obviously this doesn't include veganism/vegetarianism... So if you have other diet issues or food allergies, please contact them at fnbboston@gmail.com [5] BY JULY 1!
BIKES
Some folks are working on getting loaner bikes for the assembly. Of course we won't be able to provide everyone with one, but if you are interested in having a loaner bike, please email Kate at
kate.bonner.jackson@gmail.com [6] with the request (by July 1). It would probably be a good idea to mention how big or small you are.
CHILDCARE
We aim to make our assembly as child-friendly as possible. If you will need childcare at any point during the weekend, please email
lil_red@riseup.net [4] (by July 1). Also, if you are willing to help out with providing childcare, do the same.
We look forward to seeing you all next month! Don't hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions.
